The dust has now settled after a very busy week and the launch of our new Sound Approach title Undiscovered owls. Our journey begun at Arnouds’ house where the first 200 books were delivered exclusively for the event. The whole team was present, and in turn we each dived into one of the boxes and pulled out ourselves a copy of the book. There was total silence and anticipation as we all ripped open the cellophane covering, ready to absorb our new guide to owls of the Western Palearctic. The books looked incredible, the photos and illustrations were exquisite and the sounds….pure bliss.
We decided to host our launch at the annual Dutch Birding day, where we received an extremely warm welcome from our friends in Holland. As usual it was a manic start to the day, with our arrival just a few minutes before the event started, but with talks prepped and books delivered we were ready and over the course of the day Magnus presented two wonderful talks touching on some the amazing discoveries that feature in the book. The crowd went owl crazy and we ended up selling over 100 books, AND to top it all off, Arjan van Egmond the president of Dutch Birding produced an immaculate Undiscovered owls cake that went from being a creation even god would be proud of, to a bare plate of crumbs in less than ten minutes. At the end of the day, a Sound Approach dinner was hosted with our friends and colleagues from the Dutch Birding journal.
The UK launch will be on April 23rd when Birdwatch Magazine will be featuring an exclusive chapter, which includes a free CD with 22 tracks from the book.
