Today I am due to receive my first copy of Petrels night and day. It’s a very exciting moment, a milestone for me and the culmination of a huge amount of work by the Sound Approach team. I think the book’s main strength is its multifaceted approach. Although sounds are very much central, high quality illustrations, photos and maps offer a wealth of other material for the keen birder. In the text, I have tried to provide a broad perspective, relating my own experiences and adventures, but also including some some history and a bit of science. The blend may be fairly eclectic, but I’m confident that it works. Petrels night and day is my first book, and if all goes well, I hope it will not be my last!
